M&S "Le Froglet" Vin Rouge (2025)
Jean-Claude Mas (Paul Mas) for Marks & Spencer / Vin de France (Southern France)

Vibrant, medium ruby-red in the glass. The nose is simple, fruit-forward, and instantly friendly, offering aromas of ripe red berries, juicy plums, and a light touch of cracked pepper and garrigue herbs. Medium-bodied and exceptionally smooth on the palate, featuring soft, rounded tannins, low acidity, and a clean, uncomplicated finish.
⭐ (An easy-going, clean-drinking high-street red sitting at around 13% ABV. Fermented smoothly in stainless steel without heavy wood manipulation, it treats the head very gently).
An M&S ready-meal roast chicken, simple midweek pork chops, a classic pub-style burger, or a selection of British cheeses.
When you're in a country without vineyards, you're entirely at the mercy of the local Marks and Spencer. Ditching the dramatic volcanic soils of the Mediterranean for a UK high-street aisle means accepting a different kind of wine hunting. But honestly? M&S knows its audience. "Le Froglet" doesn't pretend to be an age-worthy Bordeaux; it's a completely unpretentious, crowd-pleasing bistro red. It delivers plenty of soft, juicy red-berry fruit without any harsh, mouth-drying edges. It won't blow your mind with complex mineral terroir, but after a long damp day in the UK, it’s a reliable, comforting bottle to pop open on the couch.
