Georges Descombes Beaujolais-Villages (2020)
K2G G. Descombes / Villié-Morgon, Beaujolais, France

The Burgundian Rebel Sneaking Into a Campania Tasting
Translucent ruby-purple with a lively, luminous edge. The nose is expressive and charming, bursting with ripe wild strawberries, crunchy red cherries, fresh violets, and a subtle, earthy undertone of damp granite. Light-to-medium-bodied on the palate, driven by mouth-watering acidity, supple, silky tannins, and a refreshingly crisp, energetic finish.
⭐ (Low-interventionist vinification by a legendary Morgon master; pure, clean, and exceptionally gentle on the head).
Charcuterie, roasted poultry, light pork dishes, or soft cheeses.
Course four keeps us firmly on the French tour of Casamere with Georges Descombes! Coming straight out of Villié-Morgon, Descombes treats Beaujolais-Villages with the kind of seriousness and respect that puts mass-market industrial wine to shame. It's juicy, packed with red berries, and possesses that signature Gamay crunch that makes it dangerously drinkable. Still craving more local Campania juice, but it's hard to complain when a natural icon like this hits your glass!
