Finca La Abeja Gran Reserva Malbec (2019)
Finca La Abeja / San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina (Imported to Malta)

The Transatlantic Supermarket Heavyweight
Deep, opaque ink-violet with a dense purple rim. The nose opens aggressively with blackberry jam, stewed plums, heavy vanilla toast, dark chocolate, and a hit of sweet wood smoke. Full-bodied and broad on the palate, with soft, low acidity, chunky tannins, and a warm, oak-dominated fruit finish.
⭐⭐⭐ (Heavy oak treatment and high alcohol extraction; enjoy in moderation unless you want a slow morning in Valletta).
Supermarket steak, heavy burgers, or bold grilled meats.
And just like that, we're teleported from Malta's coastal breeze straight to an Argentine convenience store shelf! "Gran Reserva" on a low-shelf export bottle usually means "we left oak chips in the tank for a while," and this one delivers exactly that: heavy, jammy oak and dark berry punch. It's total comfort food in a glass if you want big fruit power, but local Mediterranean terroir it is definitely not.
